Vaccination is an essential part of preventive healthcare for rabbits and ferrets.

Rabbits must be vaccinated against myxomatosis (rabbit pox) and RHD 1+2. Regardless of the type of housing, all rabbits (indoor and outdoor) should be vaccinated regularly. Vaccination intervals depend on the vaccine and the manufacturer. We offer Nobivak Plus® (annually) and the combination of RikaVacc Myxomatosis® and Filavak® (every six months). We will be happy to discuss which vaccine is suitable for your pet in a personal consultation.

Ferrets are vaccinated against distemper and rabies. As with dogs and cats, rabies vaccination is required when travelling abroad (including EU vaccination certificate and microchip implantation). Unfortunately, there is currently no distemper vaccine available in Germany.

Vaccinations are not required or recommended for other rodents and small mammals.

Important: Please check your pet's faeces regularly (1-2 times a year) (especially rabbits before vaccination). A parasite infestation may not be visible to your pet, but it can have a major impact on the immune response. Please collect faeces over a period of three days and bring them to our surgery. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
